Lessons in Flowers: Understanding

Flowers wither.

Precisely because they wither, when they bloom again, the word ‘flower’ recovers its freshness.

If a flower remained forever in full bloom, could it still be called a flower?

I often look at my own work in the same way.

Does the beauty I have already found need to be kept forever? Or is it only by letting it go that the next work has a chance to bloom anew?

Curiously, creation resembles a flower.

I do not try to preserve the bloom. I wait for it to flower again. The path of creation follows much the same course.

A flower is not a flower only when it is in full bloom. The bud and the fading are also part of its becoming. Perhaps its flowering moves us precisely because the quiet days have never been absent.
