Cold Metal

I am especially drawn to metal, above all spikes formed from cold metal. They possess order and danger; hard and unwilling to yield, they seem capable of protecting the image indefinitely, yet time will still make them rust and flake away. Permanence and decay remain on the same surface, and that has always fascinated me.

While developing my ballpoint pen works, I quickly found that ready-made frames could no longer complete the images I had in mind.

Some works do not need to be placed inside a frame; they need a boundary born alongside them. So I began designing and making my own metal frames.

A frame is not merely an accessory for display or protection. It is part of the work. Material, proportion, weight, and surface treatment must all begin with the image itself.

For me, choosing a frame, making a frame, and drawing are one continuous act. Every decision exists only to let the work become what it is meant to be.
